Wednesday War Story

November 16, 2016 by Kallie Peterson Leave a Comment

roof-caved-inUpon a routine inspection the property manager found lawn chairs & a small table on the flat roof of a property. When speaking with the tenants they asked if they could put in a door and turn the roof into a rooftop garden area. The manager explained to the tenants that the roof was built as a roof and did not have the supports for a rooftop deck and that they needed to stop using it as one.

2 weeks later the manager received a frantic call from the tenants because the roof had collaped. After rushing over to the property the manager found that not only had the tenants kept their little “rooftop deck” they had attempted to place a wading pool to help them keep cool. The weight of which caused the roof to cave in!
