Wednesday War Story

A tenant calls in to complain about a horrible smell in the apartment.  When the manager goes over to see if they can find the source of the smell. They search the home, but are unable to go into the “back room” where the baby is sleeping, and are unable to find anything. After months of the tenant repeatedly calling in about the smell, and being denied access to the back room, the manager does an inspection and insists on looking into the room.

When they go into the room, they do not find a sleeping “baby”, but they do find an obviously trashed room with a large fish tank in it.  Upon closer inspection, the fish tank did not contain LIVE fish, but DEAD ones, rotting in the tank (and had been for months). The tenants were so afraid they would get in trouble for having a “pet” without permission, that they apparently forgot to take care of the fish.
