What questions should you ask, BEFORE you choose an agent?
-
How many transactions have you handled?
This is a great way to find out how much experience they actually have. Some agents have only been in the industry for 2-3 years but have helped 50 people, while others may have over 10 years but only handled 6 transactions.
-
What makes you different than all the other agents?
Everyone comes with a different personality, skill and work ethic. When meeting with a potential agent, make sure that you interact well with them. They are helping you find your home!
-
Who else is on your real estate team that I may be working with as well?
Nothing is worse than signing up with an agent, and then dealing solely with their assistant. Meet everyone that will be assisting you in this adventure. That way it won’t be a shock if someone else contacts you about a showing or needing information.
-
Can I see any reviews or speak with any of your past clients?
Every “good” agent should be able to show reviews or recommendations from people that they have helped and worked with. You want to make sure that you are dealing with someone who is morally and ethically a strong person. Reviews are a great way to figure out if they have great negotiating skills as well.
-
Will you attend the home inspection
There is no better time to interact with the home inspection than DURING the home inspection. You should want your agent there to help with questions and to find out answers.
