Sorry, the IRS has seized all my assets, so I can’t pay rent this month…. or next…
An irate tenant calls their manager complaining that their neighbor across the way is a ‘pervert’. Every night they catch him looking in the window to their bathroom. They don’t want to call the police in fear of retaliation. The manager, trying to find a resolution, approaches the neighbor to explain the circumstances and states, if it doesn’t stop the police will be called! The neighbor calmly states, the whole neighborhood is watching them… They NEVER close the blinds! Sometimes it is very helpful to get both sides of the story!
I can’t pay rent this month, because my best friend was in jail and she needed bail money. I’ll have to pay next month.
Sometimes the best questions are asked BEFORE a tenant moves in, often they can raise a red flag. Here are a few that should make you smile. Can I pay rent with food stamps (Nope, not a grocery store!) I’m not allowed within 1000 feet of a school…. Are there any around here? (Said after the tenant had stated that they did not have any type of criminal record) What is your average eviction time for non-payment? Do you allow chickens? (On a 3rd story apartment in a multi-unit complex) I know the rent was listed at $900/month, but I can’t afford that…. Can you lower it to..
I refuse to pay rent because I am living in an INFESTATION!!! There are bugs on the balcony…
Sorry, I can’t pay rent right now because YOUR lease says we have to abide by all city and state laws. Now I have to get my dog licensed with the city and have to pay for a rabies shot so they will give me the license! All for a dog that wasn’t authorized in the first place!!
We can’t pay rent because while we were on vacation, the rent money fell out of my pocket. I think it was while we were on a ride in Disney Land….
A irate tenant calls complaining that there are ants in the apartment. She states that they are infesting the property. The owner of the property immediately calls a pest control property and send them out to clean up the pests. A week later, the tenant calls again, stating that the ants are back, and demands a different pest control company comes out since the first one obviously didn’t know what they were doing. The owner, once again complies… And once again, a week later she calls with the same complaint. Finally the owner, upset at ‘losing’ so much money, hires a property manager to handle..
I know rent is due on the 1st, but I already spent the money from my pay check on a new TV, it was on sale and I couldn’t pass up the deal. I’ll have pay rent in two weeks when I get my next check…
A resident calls quite upset stating that the owner needs to pay for a new roof NOW! After calming them down, the manager inquires as to what is wrong with the roof. The tenant exclaims that it is SO loud when it rains that it is now affecting her life! Unfortunately, it is a metal roof that is less than 2 years old. Time to get some ear plugs if she doesn’t like the sound of rain on a metal roof!
